UPDATE-6/16/26
The bridge replacement/ complete road closure for NYS Route 94 will be pushed to next summer 2027. This was caused by lead time issues getting the steel for the project. The overall goal of the June-September closure was intended to prevent negative impacts with school traffic. The decision was made to postpone till June-Sept of 27 to maintain that goal.
🚧The plan for the remainder of the year remains the same with finishing retaining wall and sidewalks already in progress within the next two months between Scanlon Ave and Glenmere Ave. Retaining walls are currently being installed as of this post.
🚧Drainage replacement and sidewalk installation will continue at the intersection by Meadow Road, 17M and Route 94.
🚧Reclamation paving has been pushed up to this year and will begin soon. The machines are set to begin in the Village of Warwick next week. Once completed they will begin here. Paving will begin at Scanlon ave through to the Central Deli intersection. This will Not be the final paving but an base layer. It will be a vast improvement from what’s currently there.
🚧The Slope repair is still on track for this year. This work will take place on the side of NYS Route 94 coming into the village from Chester where the concrete barriers run along the road. They plan to begin this work in August and finish before the end of the work season of 2026. Traffic will be reduced to one lane allowing traffic flow using a timed stop light system.
🔴As always please drive carefully and follow all traffic signals, new patterns and flaggers through construction zones.
🟡Increased traffic will continue through the summer along mainstreet, please be patient and plan accordingly for additional travel time.

Construction will resume in the Village of Florida, NY
🔴 Beginning at Bridge Street intersection by Dinomart south: Sidewalks, Retaining Walls and Drainage replacement through June.
🔴 Bridge (Going towards Chester) replacement on Route 94 begins Friday June 5th. This is a full road closure. And will require a driver detour. Construction will be through early September.
🔴 Route 94 Slope Repair will begin after the Bridge replacement. This will Repair the falling shoulder coming into the village. This will close one lane and require use of temporary traffic signals.
